Nahiya or Nahia (Arabic: ناحية, Nāḥiyah; pl. Nawahi, Arabic: نواحي, translit: Nāwaḥy) is a term for an administrative unit used in Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. It is a second-level country subdivision. It contains a number of villages and sometimes a small town, and it constitutes a part of a qadaa or mintaqah (district). Nahiya can be translated as subdistrict.
In Jordan it is below the governorates (muhafazah).
