Nain

A village in Galilee, southeast of Nazareth, called Naim in the later Jewish sources, where Jesus revived the widow's son (Luke 7:11-14). Eusebius (Onom. 140:3) names it Naeim, 12 miles (19 km) south of Mount Tabor near Endor. A place of some importance in the Byzantine period, when it was known as Kome Nais, the "village Nais", it is identified with Nein, about 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Nazareth. The ruins of the medieval church found there incorporate some remains of an earlier religious building, the exact nature of which has not been determined. Around the village there are rock-cut tombs of the time of the Second Temple.

Concordance
Luke 7:11
