Biography

Rap, hip-hop, and soul siren Naja Shiri began her career quietly in America's northeast. Amanda Nicole Allison was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1981. After discovering the music of Mary J. Blige, Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Faith Evans, she experienced a spiritual rebirth and changed her name to Naja Shiri which means strong, song of my soul. In the spring of 2003 she went on to achieve regional success in the southeast with the release of her self-penned debut single "Dat Bomb." The song received unanimous critical acclaim and would eventually lead her to a record deal with On The Block Records. Her full-length debut, Too Many Rainy Days, was released in late October of the same year. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
