In 1999, the air terminal was named in honour of World War I ace Raymond Collishaw who was born in Nanaimo. The Nanaimo-Collishaw Air Terminal is the passenger terminal for the airport. It is primarily used by Air Canada-Jazz which provides services to Vancouver.
The airport recently expanded its runway to 6,602 feet and extended the paralell taxiway to the full length of the runway in addition to renovating the passenger terminal.
