Review

No longer the heavy rock purists, the Boredoms' Hanadensha side-project found themselves with a major-label deal, recharged and re-inspired to experiment with the far corners of prog, hardcore, psychedelic, and ambient techno. The minimalism of the song titles ("Star," "Space," "Stone," "Soul") mirrored much of the music. Tracks were structured like blissed-out drug depression, built on gray, unwieldy vocals and Krautrock underbeats that dipped in and out of focus, which didn't so much recall the cathedral swab of Spacemen 3 as much as pull apart noiseless IDM and psychedelic clichés. ~ Dean Carlson, Rovi
