nose strip

A thin strip of plastic attached onto the bridge of the nose to dilate the nasal openings. It is claimed that dilators improve athletic performance by enabling athletes to breathe more easily, making more oxygen available during heavy exercise and recovery. Tests on athletes performing high intensity exercise and maximal cycling suggest that dilators have no significant physiological effect. However, they do make some athletes feel that they are breathing more easily, reducing their perceived exertion.
