Biography
Atlanta-based sleaze rockers Nashville Pussy are led by the husband-and-wife duo of singer/guitarist Blaine Cartwright and guitarist Ruyter Suys; also featuring bassist Corey Parks (the sister of NBA star Cherokee Parks) and drummer Jeremy Thompson, the group (named in reference to a line from Ted Nugent's Double Live Gonzo! LP) debuted in 1998 with the album Let Them Eat Pussy, originally issued on Amphetamine Reptile. An underground favorite, the record was reissued on major label Mercury later that same year, and the song "Fried Chicken and Coffee" was nominated for a Grammy for Best Heavy Metal Performance. Parks left the group in early 2000 and was replaced by Tracy Almazan for High as Hell, which followed in the middle of the year. The album came out on TVT and helped maintain their cult following, but further progress was blocked by a lack of label support. A successful tour and several soundtrack and compilation appearances kept Nashville Pussy busy in the interim before they moved to Artemis for 2002's Say Something Nasty. The live DVD Keep on F*ckin' in Paris! appeared in 2003. The band returned two years later with the Get Some! LP, which marked the debut of bassist Karen Cuda. It was followed in 2009 by From Hell to Texas. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Nashville Pussy is an American hard rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Many of their songs are about sex, drugs, drinking, fighting, and rock & roll. Their musical style mixes punk rock, Southern metal, boogie rock and psychobilly. Much of their music is not what would be considered traditionally "radio friendly", due to their frequent use of expletives and vulgar terminology. Initially called Hell's Half-Acre, the band's name comes from Ted Nugent's introduction to "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" on the Double Live Gonzo album.
The core lineup of Nashville Pussy consists of husband-and-wife duo Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys (pronounced "Rider Sighs"), and drummer Jeremy Thompson. Original bassist Corey Parks (sister of former NBA basketball player Cherokee Parks) left after the album High as Hell, to be replaced by Katielyn Campbell (of the band C'mon) for the album Say Something Nasty. Campbell was subsequently replaced by Karen Cuda for the album Get Some.
Nashville Pussy's sixth studio album, released February 2009, is entitled From Hell to Texas.
Blaine Cartwright formed the cowpunk band Nine Pound Hammer in 1985, which disbanded in 1997 with the formation of Nashville Pussy. Cartwright's former band, Nine Pound Hammer, has reunited and plays the introduction song for the Adult Swim cartoon 12 Oz. Mouse. Cartwright also had a cameo in the Mr. Show spinoff movie Run Ronnie Run as Duke's Bar Owner.
Nashville Pussy received a Best Metal Performance Grammy nomination for their song "Fried Chicken And Coffee" from their debut release, Let Them Eat Pussy (1998, The Enclave),[1] and their songs "Come On, Come On" and "Hate & Whisky" were featured in the video game Jackass the Game. Additionally, "Snake Eyes" was in the video game Rogue Trip and "Shoot First and Run Like Hell" was in the movie Super Troopers.
Since then, however, the band has remained largely underground, however gaining a large rock club scene cult following, and in Europe[2], Australia[3], Japan and the rest of the world[4], the band has a modest fanbase. Grassroots promotion of the band has been aided by their taper-friendly show recording policy.
