Nasoni

Italian architect, he settled in Oporto, Portugal (1723–73), where he introduced the lush forms of late Baroque and Rococo. His greatest work is São Pedro dos Clérigos, Oporto (1732–50), built on an elliptical plan, with a lavishly decorated and energetic front, complete with spectacular stairs. He also designed the Palacio do Freixo, Campanhã (c.1749–54), with grounds descending in a series of terraces to the River Douro, a memorable and theatrical composition.
