Nate Edwards

Wikipedia: Nate Edwards

Nathen P. Edwards is a distinguished IBM hardware architect, retired in 1997. One of the key people involved in the SAGE project.[1] Holder, often with other authors, of a number of patents - see below.

He also picked up the term configurable modularity, coined by Raoul de Campo of IBM Research to mean the ability to reuse independent components by changing their interconnections, but not their internals, and developed it in several papers.[2] He describes this as a characteristic of all systems that can be said to be "engineered".
