Nathanael Culverwel

Philosophy Dictionary: Nathanael Culverwel

Culverwel, Nathanael (c. 1618-c. 1651) Although educated at Emmanuel College surrounded by Cambridge Platonists, Culverwel retained a Calvinist temper, and maintains a distance from the unfettered celebration of reason characteristic of the Platonists. His principal work is An Elegant and Learned Discourse of the Light of Nature, composed about 1646 but published posthumously.
