The National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) is a federation of cooperative grocery stores founded in 1999 in the United States. As of 2008[update] NCGA's membership includes 109 independent food cooperatives who have a combined annual sales of $945 million.[1] In total, there are nearly 300 food co-operatives in the U.S.[2] NCGA leverages the buying power of its member cooperatives to negotiate with manufacturers such as UNFI.[3]
NCGA is the publisher of Co-operative Grocer, the monthly trade publication for U.S. food co-operatives, first published in 1985.[2]
