Location

NIT Warangal, previously known as REC Warangal, is located in the northern region of Andhra Pradesh. The 256-acre (1.04 km2) residential campus is located on both sides of the National Highway No. 202 (Hyderabad - Warangal - Khammam). The institute is close to Kazipet Junction (2 km) a major railway junction and also Warangal railway station. The two stations together are connected to almost every state of the country, therefore making the college very accessible. The nearest airport is in Hyderabad 135 km. The state road transport APSRTC buses ply at intervals of 5–10 minutes, between Hanamkonda, Warangal and Hyderabad bus stands.

Campus

The 256 acres of land is divided by the NH 202 highway into staff quarters, CCE and the Main campus, amidst the Kazipet and Hanamkonda in Warangal District. The main entrance of the campus depicts the traditional elegance of Kakatiya Thoranam. The main entrance of the campus is inscribed with the Sanskrit/Telugu words "कर्मदैव हि संसिद्धि", meaning that the one who works shall succeed.

The International meets, conferences and student activities are held in Abdul Kalam Hall, New Seminar Hall, New conference Hall and The Auditorium. The library has 143,000 books, back volumes, technical pamphlets, standards, CD-ROMS, video cassettes and receives 2000 on-line Journals through INDEST set-up by MHRD, Government of India.

The heart of the campus is the department area where departments of engineering and science are interconnected with small walking bridges.

The faculty lives in staff quarters inside and outside the campus. The students' hostels and messes are spread across the campus. While the Girls hostel(affectionately called LH) is at a short walking distance from the Institute's entrance Gate, boys' hostels are located in the campus interiors.

The campus had some major renovation and hostel expansion in the last couple of years which included 4 major hostel constructions (completed and now housing students).

The campus gets a bright green hue during monsoons, due to the sheer number of trees and vegetation and offers a very pleasant sight.
