National Metal and Steel Corporation was engaged in ship dismantling operations at Terminal Island in Los Angeles, California. Operations ceased on 1 January 1986 when the company lost its harbor facility.
National Metal and Steel was the final destination for many decommissioned United States Navy ships, and for many red streetcars of the famed Pacific Electric Railway and yellow cars of the Los Angeles Railway which became Los Angeles Transit Lines. National Metal and Steel was run by Joseph Schapiro.
