In 2004, the National Union PSD+PUR was an electoral cartel formed between the Social Democratic Party and the Humanist Party of Romania. It was set up as a counterpart to the Justice and Truth Alliance PNL-PD, only for the 2004 legislative elections and Romanian presidential election.
The two parties (now PSD and Conservative Party decided to form a political alliance for the 2008 general elections, now called Alianta PSD+PC, reflecting the Humanist Party's change of name. This alliance was continued for the 2009 European Parliament elections, with the alliance winning 11 seats, including one Conservatives' candidate: George Sabin Cutaş[1].
