Optical retailer National Vision focuses on Wal-Mart but keeps an eye out for other business opportunities. The company sells low-cost prescription glasses, contact lenses, sunglasses, and accessories more than 450 locations, about 200 of which are in Wal-Mart stores in the US and Mexico under the Vision Center brand. National Vision also maintains free-standing retail locations (America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, and newly-acquired Eyeglass World), along with facilities in Fred Meyer stores (Optical Shoppe) and on military bases. The company also sells contact lenses online through bestcontacts.com. Investment firm Berkshire Partners bought National Vision in 2005 for about $40 million.
