Natixis operates in the nexus of the money movers and the money shakers. The company is the corporate banking, asset management, and specialized financial services arm of French banking giant Groupe BPCE. Natixis serves commercial and financial institutions and wealthy individuals in some 70 countries worldwide. It has some E540 billion (some $790 billion) of assets under management. Natixis is a French corporate and investment bank created in November 2006 from the merger of the asset management and investment banking operations of Natexis Banque Populaire (Banque Populaire group) and IXIS (Groupe Caisse d'Epargne).
The two main shareholders, Groupe Caisse d'Epargne and Banque Populaire, together own more than 70% of Natixis while the remaining float is listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Natixis provide financial data for the 'Markets' section on the news channel, Euronews. On October 26th 2010, Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM) has acquired a majority stake in asset management start-up ‘Ossiam’.[2]
