Nazril Irham (Jawi: نازريل ايرهم) or more popularly known as Ariel or Ariel Peterpan (born in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, (Malay family) 16 September 1981) is an Indonesian rock star. He is the lead singer vocalist of multiplatinum[1] band Peterpan. Irham is the youngest of the three Malay brothers in his family. He has also appeared in advertisements. He was arrested in 2010 on charges relating to celebrity sex tapes found circulating on the internet[2] after his laptop was stolen.[3]

Irham majored in Architecture at the Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung.
After that, Ariel made the band again named Sliver, Cholesterol and Topi. Again, it all broke up in the middle of the road. However, the latter band make sizable meritorious career. Some people who joined in Topi, including Ariel, agreed to form a new band named Peter Pan which has survived until now.
Together with Peter Pan, Ariel seeks to penetrate top cafes in Bandung. Peter Pan gives attractive stage performances plus vocal character. Ariel secretly attracted Noey (ex basisst Java Jive), who later became a producer—to enter their songs in the album compilation "The Story of 2002 Nights". The song "Perfect Dream" which was published in a compilation album that went on to become hits. and bring Peter Pan to enter the recording industry.
In 2003, Peterpan released their first studio album "Sky Garden". This album turned out to explode the market. Admittedly, one of the factors that support this album is his best-selling vocal Ariel and its ability to process the lyrics. The lyrics are made, by an admirer of Kahlil Gibran, this is very deep. Able to touch the bottom of the hearts of the audience for his songs.

Besides a career in the music world, Ariel is now in commercials. He became a model for Sunsilk ad with Amy Lee's model. In addition, Ariel became a movie star, in the Indonesian popular movie "Sang Pemimpi (The Dreamer)". Ariel played a character Arai, a young man who never stopped dreaming.
Irham was married to Sarah Amalia; the couple divorced on May 27, 2008. They have a daughter, Alleia Anata Irham.
An anti-pornography law (the Bill against Pornography and Pornoaction) came into effect in Indonesia in 2008,[2] and in June 2010 Irham was charged with breaking the law by appearing in two sex videos found on the Internet.[2] Irham claims the tapes were stolen from his house and posted online without his consent, but the judge said the pop star did nothing to prevent their widespread distribution.[4]
TV presenter Luna Maya and soap opera star Cut Tari denied being the women in the videos.[2] July 9, 2011: Finally Cut Tari admitted to being in one of three sex videos. Her lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea said her client had confessed to featuring in the video with boyband lead singer Nazriel 'Ariel' Ilham. The confession made as his client did not want to preempt the police's investigation into the case.[5] The sex video prompted an outpouring of criticism from conservative Muslims.[2]
Irham was held in custody from his arrest until his trial, in Bandung, West Java, which began in November 2010. On 31 January 2011 a guilty verdict resulted in three years in prison.[6] The video could also result in prosecution under a law banning adultery,[7] owing to Cut Tari having been married at the time the video was made in 2006.[8] The two women were not charged.[9]
On 31 January 2011, Ariel Peterpan was sentenced to 3½ years behind bars and fined 250 million rupiah (US$28,000). Prosecutors had asked for a five-year sentence.[10] The maximum sentence possible for the charges was twelve years.[11] On 25 April 2011 the Bandung High Court rejected his appeal.[12]
The scandal became a popular topic (knowns as Ariel Peterporn Tape) on social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter,[13] causing police to raid internet cafes and school administrators to check students' cell phones for the sex videos. Communications and Information Technology Minister Tifatul Sembiring engaged in a Twitter debate after suggesting that the possibility of mistaken identity was similar to the Muslim belief that actually a lookalike of Jesus of Nazareth had been crucified;[14] he stated that the internet could "destroy" the nation.[15]
The Lux brand soap ads featuring Luna Maya were pulled from distribution following the leak of the video allegedly showing her.[7]
