Antonino Neil Pappalardo is the founder of Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH), a Massachusetts software company. As Chairman and CEO, he has overseen MEDITECH becoming a leading supplier of information systems for hospitals in the U.S, Europe, Australia and Africa. Mr. Pappalardo spends much of his time in product development.

He graduated from MIT, where he was a brother in Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, in 1964 with an S.B. degree in EECS. Working with Octo Barnett at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Mr. Pappalardo is credited with the creation of the MUMPS computer language. In 1969, he left MGH to found MEDITECH.

Mr. Pappalardo is a Life Member of the MIT Corporation and serves on the Executive committee and is chairman of the Audit committee. He is also a Trustee of the New England Aquarium, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the Dibner Institute, and the Boston Lyric Opera. In 1996, he received an honorary degree from Suffolk University. In 2000, the International Astronomical Union named an asteroid in his honor.

Mr. Pappalardo and his wife Jane, live in downtown Boston. They have four children and twelve grandchildren.
