A Benjamite, the son of Abiel (I Sam 14:51) and father of Abner commander of King Saul's army (I Sam 14:50; 26:5, etc.). Ner was related to the king, but it is not certain whether he was Saul's uncle (I Sam 14:51; I Chr 9:36) or his grandfather (I Chr 8:33; 9:39).
