The Shinshinto (新進党, "New Frontier Party") was a Japanese political party that existed during the mid-1990s. As a merger of several small parties, the party was ideologically diverse[1], with its membership ranging from moderate socialists to neoliberals and conservatives. It is now defunct.

The party was founded on December 10, 1994 by former prime minister Kaifu Toshiki, and immediately became one of the members of the ruling anti-LDP coalition led by Hosokawa Morihiro. This coalition—led by the Japan New Party and the Japan Renewal Party—collapsed in 1996. In 1995, former coalition leader Hata Tsutomu was ousted by Ichirō Ozawa who led the party from 1995 until its dissolution in 1998.

After the New Frontier Party dissolved, its remnants collated into several tiny parties, including the Liberal Party, Reform Club, New Peace Party, and New Fraternity Party. Eventually these parties all merged into the left-leaning Democratic Party of Japan.
