The Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven is the nation's oldest college art museum, with 75,000 pieces from ancient Egypt to present day. Yale's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library features the Gutenberg Bible, a sunken sculpture garden, and translucent marble "windows." Also part of Yale University, the Peabody Museum of Natural History, one of the nation's oldest and largest natural history museums, features the Pulitzer Prize-winning mural The Age of Reptiles, as well as a variety of exhibits on subjects ranging from meteorites to Connecticut birds. The Shubert Theater in New Haven has been called the "Birthplace of the Nation's Greatest Hits" (including
My Fair Lady and
A Streetcar Named Desire); and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra is the fourth-oldest symphony in the U.S.
