Wikipedia: New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) is a regulatory agency established by the State of New Jersey in 1971 to oversee the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Its first chairman was David A. "Sonny" Werblin.

As of 2007, the NJSEA's purview has expanded to include Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey; the Atlantic City, New Jersey Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall, the long-time home of the Miss America Scholarship Pageant; and The Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, New Jersey. The NJSEA also hosts the Sports Hall of Fame of New Jersey at the Izod Center (known as the Continental Airlines Arena until October 2007) and the Lambert Meadowlands Awards, which recognizes the best teams in the East in college football.

In addition, the NJSEA built the New Jersey State Aquarium (now known as the Adventure Aquarium) in Camden, and NJSEA funds were used to renovate various athletic facilities at Rutgers University. The NJSEA also contributed to the construction of the Meadowlands Environment Center in Lyndhurst, just across Berrys Creek from the sports complex.
