Growing as fast as its young customers, New Look sells apparel, lingerie, shoes, and accessories at more than 1,000 stores worldwide, including about 635 in the UK and Ireland and 300 Mim shops in France and Belgium. Franchises operates some 65 stores in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, and New Look sells merchandise online in 120-plus countries. The chain targets tweens (pre-teens), teen girls, and their mums (if they're hip) with value-priced clothing. Most of its products are private label and the stores sell plus-sized, maternity, and some men's apparel. Founded by Tom Singh in 1969, New Look is jointly controled by the private equity firms Apax Partners and Permira, who've twice failed to sell it.
