New Lots is a sub-section of the East New York neighborhood in the eastern part of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It was known as the Town of New Lots from 1852 when the area seceded from the Town of Flatbush until it was annexed in 1886 as the 26th Ward. The population is largely African-American and Hispanic. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 5. It is served by the IRT New Lots Line. Nearby neighborhoods include Canarsie to the south, and Brownsville to the west.
