The New York Knickerbockers basketball team, better known as the Knicks, is a storied franchise of the National Basketball Association. The team was founded in 1946 by Ned Irish. The Knicks won championships in 1970 and 1973 with stars such as Walt Frazier and Bill Bradley. The team acquired All-Star center Amar'e Stoudemire in 2010 and All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony in 2011, hoping to make the Knicks relevant again after years of on-court struggles. Owned by Madison Square Garden (MSG), the team shares that historic Manhattan arena with the New York Rangers hockey team.
