New York Really Has the Blues

Album Review: New York Really Has the Blues

Review

The Oscher Chicago Breakdown Blues Band's New York Really Has the Blues was a bit of an all-star session organized by Paul Oscher, the former harpist for Muddy Waters. Assembling a great cast of musicians -- including Victoria Spivey, Sugar Blue, Smokey Hogg, Ben Jackson, Robert Ross and Sonny Boy Parker -- Oscher leads the group through a number of Chicago standards. At times, there are a few too many cooks in the kitchen, but the record remains quite enjoyable. ~ Thom Owens, All Music Guide
