| 1825 | The New York Review and Athenaeum Magazine. A monthly literary periodical supplanting the Atlantic Magazine and edited by William Cullen Bryant, Robert Charles Sands, and Henry J. Anderson. The magazine featured book reviews and essays on science, literature, and the arts, as well as poetry. Notable contributors included Fitz-Greene Halleck, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Richard Henry Dana, and George Bancroft. It merged with the United States Literary Gazette in 1826. |
