Review

What sets New York's Hardest 2 a notch above the typical hardcore compilation is that instead of merely offering the usual collection of leftover tracks, live material and the like, all of the disc's 20 songs are instead newly-recorded by producer Sal Villanueva. The end result is a comp distinguished by rare cohesion -- standout cuts like 25 Ta Life's "Where It Begins," Stealth's "0 to Mach 7," Sons of Abraham's "Dos Equis" and Skarhead's "Snickers" all actually sound like they belong together on the same record. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
