The New York State Education Department's Office of Higher Education (OHE) can school ya. The agency sets and implements education policy, supervises the quality of education, and guarantees equal access to higher education at about 260 colleges and universities and 250 non-degree proprietary schools. OHE includes the offices of Teaching Initiatives, K - 16 Initiatives and Access Programs, and Quality Assurance. The K - 16 office offers college prep and professional development programs and includes the Scholarships and Grants Administration Unit. Teaching Initiatives certifies and monitors teachers while Quality Assurance oversees post-secondary schools.
