Newton's law of gravity

Top

The universal law, put forward by Isaac Newton in 1687, which states that the force of attraction between two bodies is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Although still applicable for most everyday and astronomical purposes, it has been supplanted by Einstein's general theory of relativity.
