Plot

Philippine director Raya Martin offers the second feature in his "Box Office Trilogy" with this experimental drama. Next Attraction follows a handful of young actors and filmmakers as they work on a short film. The short subject concerns a young man who runs away from home after a quarrel with his mother; he hops a bus to Manila and loses his virginity to an older man, while at home mother tries to think of a way to resolve the conflict. But the dividing line between what's part of a narrative and what is real life is frequently blurred; the narrative of the film being made becomes lost along the way, with the demands of the creative process and the nuts and bolts of shooting a movie taking greater precedence than the story in question.
