Ó Dónaill, Niall, (1908-1995), lexicographer and writer; born in the Donegal Gaeltacht, educated at St Eunan's College, Letterkenny, and UCD. He spent some years translating novels for An Gúm before becoming editor of Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla (1977) in 1959. Apart from thirteen translations, he wrote a life of John Mitchel (Beatha Sheáin Mistéil, 1937) and a historical account of life in the Rosses (Na Glúnta Rosannacha, 1952).
