Nicola Arienzo
(b Naples, 24 Dec 1842; d there, 25 April 1915). Italian composer. He wrote eight comic or semi-serious operas; Il cuoco (1873) was the most widely performed, La figlia de diavolo (1879), with its versimo tendencies, the most controversial. He taught history in Naples and published several historical studies, notably on opera buffa.
