Music Encyclopedia: Nicos Mamangakis

(b Rethymnon, Crete, 3 March 1929). Greek composer. He studied with Orff and Genzmer at the Munich Musikhochschule (1957-64), and has used both avant-garde techniques and a popular style; the social and political criticism found in his lighter music has made his reputation in Greece.
