(b Sydney, 13 May 1935). Australian composer. He studied at the NSW State Conservatorium (1952-5) and with Rainier in London (1962) and has taught at the conservatories in Sydney and Newcastle, NSW. His early works are influenced by Bartók, Hindemith and Shostakovich, but in the mid-1960s he began to use newer techniques. Several of his works have Christian themes.
