A Nichiren-based Buddhist organization founded by Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985), often referred to as Guruji within the movement. Fujii, disturbed deeply by the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, began conducting a series of peace marches around the world in various places, during which he and his followers chanted the daimoku, or title of the Lotus Sūtra. He also devoted himself to the construction of large, white ‘peace pagodas’, of which there are currently over 70 around the world.
