Biography

Growing up in the infamous Fort Apache section of the Bronx can make you a gangsta if the hip-hop lifestyle is your thing. With a strong family base and a house filled with respect and ethics, rapper Nitty decided he wasn't going to fall prey to the Bronx's dark side. Growing up, he always preferred rappers like Will Smith, Heavy D, and Young MC -- rappers who had positive messages and were as entertaining as they were skilled. Determined to find his place in the hip-hop world, Nitty joined the Du Brothers, a crew of aspiring rappers, singers, DJs, and dancers from the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It gave him confidence in his positive style of rapping and confidence that hip-hop needed more fun, less gangsta. A lot of rap fans must have agreed, since his 2004 single "Nasty Girl" was an instant smash hit on urban and rhythm radio. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

Frank Ross (born December 23, 1977), better known by stage name Nitty is a pop rap artist from The Bronx.

His singles include "Nasty Girl" and "Hey Bitty," the former reaching #1 in sales in the United States in 2004, and also debuted at #1 in Australia in 2005. The following album, Player's Paradise, was released in 2005.

In an interview with the former Australian music television show So Fresh, Nitty explained that he didn't want to jump into rap as a mean, edgy type of rapper that is the current trend, but more of a nice guy rapper, with lighthearted songs and videos. He calls this style "playboy rap."

Nitty wants to be seen as not only a singer, but as an entertainer, in the mold of all-around celebrities such as Will Smith. According to his website, "Nitty's sole mission is to make hip-hop fun again."

Since Player's Paradise Nitty has gone on to continue his career as a producer. His solo career, however, has not had any activity. In the recent film Sex Drive, his song Nasty Girl was on the soundtrack.
