(b Bucharest, 15 Dec 1888; d there, 25 March 1940). Romanian composer. A pupil of Kiriac and Castaldi in Bucharest and of d′Indy and Widor in Paris (1908-11), he taught at the Bucharest Conservatory from 1913 (director, 1918-40) and conducted the Bucharest PO. He wrote operas and orchestral pieces in a nationalist French-influenced style.
