Nonperforming Loan

Real Estate Dictionary: Nonperforming Loan

A loan that is not earning income for its holder, on which full payment can no longer be expected, payments are more than 90 days delinquent, or the maturity date has passed and payment has not been made.
Example: A bank examiner combed through the records of Easy Money S&L looking for nonperforming loans. The examiner will consider these and mark portions as "loss" or "substandard" and comment on them.
