Norman Bethune
Birth Date
Mar 3, 1890. Canadian physician who worked in the front lines during WWI, the Spanish Civil War and the Chinese Revolution. Bethune was born at Gravenhurst, ON; he died at age 49 at China while treating a soldier of Mao’s Eighth Route Army, Nov 11, 1939. He is said to be the only Western man recognized as a hero of the Chinese Revolution.
