Norman G. Baker

Norman G. Baker (born 1882 in Muscatine, Iowa, died 1958 in Florida, buried in Muscatine)^[1] was an inventor, the operator of a border blaster, and a self-proclaimed doctor. Despite having no formal training or degrees, he claimed to be able to cure cancer without operations or radiation. He was convicted of federal mail fraud in 1940.

He operated KTNT ("Know the Naked Truth"), a high-wattage radio station that moved to Mexico when radio regulators shut him down, thus turning his radio station into a border blaster.^[2] He was known for his relentless anti-medical-establishment attacks, at his "hospitals", on radio and in newspapers. He was accused of quackery and eventually convicted for mail fraud.^[1]

Baker was the inventor of the Tangley Calliaphone (an air blown musical instrument similar to a Calliope).^[3]
