Before you can get on the bus, someone has to build it, and that's where North American Bus Industries comes in. The company designs, manufactures, and sells buses for public transportation and shuttle bus systems under three well-known brands. Its NABI line uses bus bodies made in Hungary with assembly and the installation of mechanical components completed at the company's Alabama plant. NABI buses run on diesel fuel, natural gas, and hybrid-electric power. Its Optima brand includes low-floor and street car models while Blue Bird produces school and commercial buses and recreational vehicles. North American Bus Industries is part of The Traxis Group, which owner Cerberus Capital Management formed in 2006.
