North Coast AVA

appellation comprised of the counties north of San Franciso including lake, marin, mendocino, napa sonoma and solano. Previously, the North Coast region included counties south of San Francisco, which are now in the central coast region. It encompasses over 3,000,000 acres and includes many smaller avas like napa valley ava, the various Sonoma County AVAs and those in Mendocino and Lake Counties. The North Coast AVA is a leader in acreage producing high-quality wine grapes including cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, merlot, pinot noir and sauvignon blanc.
