Owned by Midwestern newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises, North County Times is a regional paper serving the area north of San Diego, California, including the cities of Escondido and Oceanside as well as their surrounding areas. The paper produces nine local editions and boasts a circulation of about 70,000. The North County Times is a local newspaper in San Diego's North County owned by Lee Enterprises. It is headquartered in Escondido. The current publisher is Peter York.

It was formed in 1995 from the merger of the North County Blade-Citizen of Oceanside (founded 1929) and the Escondido Times-Advocate (founded 1909)[2]. Since 1997, the Times has published The Californian in Temecula, located in southwest Riverside County. The newspaper is published with three local editions including The Californian[2].

Beginning in 2008 and continuing through 2011, the paper has laid off dozens of staff members, including at least a third of its editorial/newsroom staff. [3]
