North-West is one of the districts of Botswana. It was formed in 2001 by combining the districts of Chobe with Ngamiland.

Location

North-West's location in the country causes it to share borders with the following foreign areas:

• Omaheke Region, Namibia - southwest
• Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia - west
• Okavango Region, Namibia - northwest
• Caprivi Region, Namibia - north
• Western Province, Zambia - a tiny border in the north
• Matabeleland North Province, Zimbabwe - east

Domestically, it borders the following districts:

• Central District - southeast
• Ghanzi District - southwest

Settlements

By far the largest settlement in the district is Maun, which had a population of 43,776 in 2001 census while the second largest village, Kasane, had 7,638. The following is the list of villages noted separately in 2001 census in each census region.^[1]
