Biography

New York-based DJ/remixer/producer and one of the most passionate pioneers of Latin house, Norty Cotto became seriously involved in popular music while working along with John "Jellybean" Benítez on Noel's 1988 debut album. Inspired by early house -- including the post-disco freestyle which emerged in Latin communities in major U.S. cities -- Norty Cotto teamed up with successful acts in the dance music field working on records; from the old-school U.S. house to the energetic sound of Dominican merengue mixed with electronic music known as merenhouse. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
