Not Lame Recordings was a Ft. Collins, Colorado, United States based independent record label specializing in power pop releases. The company was started by Bruce Brodeen in November 1994[1] but it shut down per November 24, 2010.[2] The reasons Brodeen mentioned were a career switch combined with decreasing music sales in recent years[1] in an already small market for CDs in this genre.[2] Brodeen is looking to introduce Pop Geek Heaven as a successor to Not Lame's role within the power pop community.
In its 16 year existence, the label has released over 100 albums[3] including the annual 3-CD compilation of the International Pop Overthrow festival from 1997 through to 2010 (later years are brought out by Brodeen privately), as well as releasing albums for artists like Tommy Keene and Dwight Twilley, and bands such as Myracle Brah, Sweet Apple Pie, and Wanderlust. Not Lame also released box sets for Jellyfish and The Posies.[1] The company's online store has sold over 15,000 different CD releases.[1]
