Notice to Creditors

Banking Dictionary: Notice to Creditors

Written notice posted in newspapers asking creditors of an estate, or a debtor, to present their claims in court. A notice to creditors is filed in bankruptcy proceedings and in adjudication of estates. In a bankruptcy case, notice to creditors precedes the first meeting of creditors, where creditors who are owed payment are invited to present their claims.
