Nowshehra or Naushera is a town and a notified area committee in Rajauri district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Nowshehra is located at 34°08′N 74°48′E / 34.13°N 74.80°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 1,575 metres (5,167 feet).
As of 2011[update] India census,[2] Nowshehra had a population of 9,122. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Nowshehra has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 76%. In Nowshehra, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
