Nyssorhynchus is an extinct subgenus of the genus Plasmodium.
There is one known species in this genus - Plasmodium dominicana. It was identified from Dominican amber.[1]
The vertebrate host of this species is unknown but it seems likely that it may have been a bird.
The mosquito vector has been identified as Culex malariager.
